Synopsis

This manhwa series follows numerous characters over several generations as war, politics and romance influence their lives. Pressured by name, status, politics and pride, they struggle with the reality of the lives they were born with.

The story begins as a young girl called Pry is awoken in the middle of the night to meet her father for the first and only time in her life. The setting then flashbacks to the childhood of Biyon Pryodobra, prince of Ramira; Biancasta (Bii) Ryodt, daughter of Biyon's nursemaid; Ryan (Leo) Vaida, son of a noble family loyal to the crown; and Eshild (Eshe) Barder, daughter of the Prime Minister. As the story progresses, the setting spreads to include the other two countries, explaining the conflicts in the region as well as personal histories the characters.

Setting

The story is set in a fictional Middle Ages-Renaissance timeline. The main setting is A.S.R., three strong countries that were once one.

Though the name is derived from 'Anatolia' or Turkey, the climate, fashion and people are patterned after Russian ambience. The weather is harsh and cold, with just a few weeks for spring and winter through most of the year. Anatorians are tall, strong, wild, and harsh. Women are just as strong and willful as men. It appears to be a bankrupt country, but its military force and population surpasses that of Ramira's more than twice. As of Volume 31, the current king is Skadei Tor, who is married to Queen Yopina Argo and has declared Sibel Tor his heir.

A small island country, it bears resemblance to most European countries, particularly Italy. With nature on their side (seas and mountains as natural barriers), they have remained a strong independent nation. Ramira has little military and war experience, and its small population is not comparable to the other two countries. Ramirans are opposites of Anatorians; their women are often described as 'small, frail and gentle' by Anatorians. Ramira is the home country of most of the protagonists. As of Volume 31, the current king is the former Prime Minister Barder, who revolted after Biyon attempted to crown Biancasta queen. He has put aside his former wife, Eshild's mother, in favor of marrying the ambassador's daughter, who is the current queen.

Skador bears great resemblance to Persian or Arab countries, and is nicknamed "Windy Skador". As a country, it has not made bold political or military moves against either Anatoria or Ramira. It is suggested there is much internal conflict, but Skador also has a tendency toward subterfuge; the king appears to prefer using marriages and spies to get what he wants. As of Volume 31, the sitting king is Argo, who is noticeable for his advanced age, especially compared to the kings of Skador and Ramira, who are both relatively young.
